hy the King on Wednesday 6th August consisted of Shaikh Abdulla-
hin-Isa al Khalifah # C•! .E• f and his son Shaikh Muhaniad-bin-Abdulla
accompanied by Captain N*N«E«Eray 18th King Georges Own Lancers.
I presented the Deputation. When the Deputation had been
presented|the Shaikh with His Majesty’s permission addressed the
King as follows
M Before I deliver the message from my father I would like first
humbly and gratefully to thank your Majesty for the honour
of my being invited,as the guest of Your Majesty’s Government,
to visit this great country and for the great honour Your
Majesty has done me by inviting me to your Pavilion on the
occasion,which I can never forget,of the wonderful celebration
of victory,also for having the privilege of being present at
your inspection of the representatives of your Majesty*s Indian
forces and finally for the kind and hospitable way in which I
have everywhere been received*

My father found it impossible to convey in a letter in/adequate
words his joy and gratification at the great and complete
victories God has granted to the armies of your Majesty in every
part of the world, He has therefore asked me to convey to your
Majesty in words that come from my heart,his humble and sincere
congratulations to you and your people on the victorious
termination of their fight for freedom. For over fifty years
my father has lived in close friendship with the people of the
British Empire and throughout the years of war he has neither
wavered in his friendship nor doubted the final victory of
your people*
Pray God that friendship will be even more fixmly cemented in the
future by means of this visit I have had the honour and privilege
to make*
It is a custom among the Arabs when they desire to show true
friendship to offer a sword as a token of trust in the firm
belief that that weapon will never be used against the giver*

This part contains papers relating to the visit of Mission (deputation) from Bahrein [Bahrain] to the United Kingdom in 1919. It includes correspondence regarding the reception of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah, son of Shaikh Isa of Bahrein, and Abdullah’s son Muhammad-bin-Abdulla by King George V at Buckingham Palace, London, on 6 August 1919.

Much of the correspondence also relates to the reception of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah by Sir Arthur Hirtzel, Assistant Under-Secretary of State for India, on 1 September 1919, and a subsequent letter from Abdullah to Hirtzel, in which Abdullah states that he has been instructed by his father to make four proposals to the British Government regarding Bahrein, and the response of the British Government to these proposals.
