30. Kuwait Neutral Zone uil .
The American Independent uil Coy announced yesterday
that it has outbidden petroleum firms of two nations for
rights in the Kuwait/Saudi Arabia "neutral zone", in the
heart of the major Middle East oil area.
Txhe President of the company said that Sah shaikh
Ahmed bin Jabir as Eubah, the ruler of Kuwait, has granted
the Independent Oil Coy full rights of exploitation and
development in his undivided half interest in this zone.
The Shaikh holds the area jointly with King Ibn Saud.
The area of the concession is a semi desert territory
50 miles long from east to west and nearly 45 miles wide.
No test wells have yet been drilled in the concession
area, but geologists have reported favourably on its
petroleum potentialities.
Davis, the company’s president, claimed that it is
the first time that a large scale adequately financed oil
operation has been undertaken in the Middle East by
independents.- He said that his company has done, and
will continue to do, everything possible to advance
among the Kuwaiti a friendship for and confidence in the
U.3.A. and its nationals working in their midst.
