62 . A person registered in any register of British Subjects estab-
iisiied under the provisions of any Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. which have been
repealed shall be registered under the provisions of this Order
unless the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. is satisfied after enquiry that the previous
registration was erroneous or that such person is not entitled to
registration under the provisions of this Order.
63 . Every person shall, on every registration of himself ar^pn
every renewal of the registration, pay a fee of one rupee, orTdeh
o lei fee as the Secretary of State from time to time appoints The
amount of the fee so appointed may be uniform for all persons or
ma) vary according to the position and circumstances of different
classes, if the Secretary of State from time to time so directs but
ma\ not in any case exceed 3 rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. .
64 . \\ here any person applies to be registered, he shall be entitled
without a fee to the assistance of the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in the prepa-
lation of any affidavit that may be required.

evidence that an applicant for registration is entitled to the status
ol a British subject as he may see fit, but subject to such directions
as may be issued by the Secretary of State
66. If any British subject neglects to obtain registration under
the provisions of this Order, he shall not be entitled to be recog
nised or protected as a British subject within the limits of this
Order and shall be liable to a fine not exceeding 25 rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. for each
instance of such failure ; but he shall, although not registered, be
subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts established by this Order.
67 . A register of companies incorporated or registered in the
l mted Kingdom or in any other part of His Majesty’s dominions,
protectorates, protected states or mandated territories, and carrying
on business in Kuwait, shall be kept in the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. , and
every such company carrying on business in Kuwait shall register
there. *
68 . On the registration of a company at the Political Agencv
there shall be deposited and filed a copy of the certificate of incorpo
ration of the company or other document corresponding thereto, a
statement showing the nominal capital of the company and the
amounts thereof which have been subscribed and paid up respec
tively and, if the company has been incorporated under a law which
provides tor the periodical filing of a list of the share-holders, a copy
of the last list so filed.
69 . The Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. shall, on the registration of a companv
at the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. , issue to the person making the registration
a ceitificate, signed and sealed, that the company has been so
registered.
70 . —(1) Every company registered under this Order shall
register the name and address of the manager or other chief local

The successor to the Court of Directors. , Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , and the Government of India, Foreign and Political Department (later, External Affairs). The papers concern the discussion of the need for the order, its drafting, issue, and distribution, as well as its revision in 1939.

Correspondence with the Shaikh of Qatar, Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani [Shaikh ‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī], is also included and mostly relates to his wish for assurance of his jurisdiction over Muslim foreigners.
