The Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gnlf, No. 170, dated the 17th September 1869.
Submits translations of letters from Syed Azan of Muscat and Syed Azan’s Agent
Nasir bin Rashid, and states that it appears to him very desirable to avoid, as far as
possible, all unpleasant discussion with the Muscat Ruler so long as he is unrecognized,
and so long as he is more or less under the influence of a fanatical faction.
Resolution. —Copy should be forwarded to the Govemment of India.
The delay complained of by the Muscat Government appears to be with
reference to the representations made by them to Colonel Disbrowe as to the
“ Prince of Wales.” It was necessary for him to refer to Government for in
structions, and the complaints of' delay are unfounded.
Colonel Pelly should be so informed.
