The rough sketch facing this page shows the water supply in June
xgo 3 between Amalaf and Ilumai (^. v.). I he ticiwcik was quite dry.
There is a small dry nawar just to the south of the water pits, and the
rain water seems to have sunk into the ground and percolated along
close to the surface. I do not know for how long one could get water
there; at present it is just below the surface and has been a Godsend to
our little parties going across. The two Borghars are very puzzling,
one marked on map, a trigonometrical station, 4,029 feet, a black promi
nent hill just to the south of the track, the other about 5 miles further
east just to the north of ihe track, a solitary brown hill and sworn to by
Ido as the “ Borghor.” [Rose-Price.)
BOR KUH, or BORGHAR NAWAR—
A nawar about 2 miles north-east of Bor Kub to north of camel
track from Mushki Chah to Saindak, on which it forms a temporary
stage. The nawar holds water only for a short time after rain. ( We/d-
Ware — Rose-Price.)
BOT-I-CHAH—
This is a halting-place and a small settlement of Siahpads (Bizanjo),
18 miles from Kharan, on the road to the Helmand. This place is also
called Gwash. Wells are numerous all over this district, some of them
being of considerable depth and nearly all of them are fitted with light
wheels for raising the water. Camping-ground is excellent on put.
Camel-grazing to be had, but no supplies. [O’Donnell.)
BRAHUK—
A small conical hill at the foot of the range of hills south of Chah Sir
(< 7 . v ). The nearest water is at Shund, about 2 ^ miles away. [Wedd-
Ware)
BUBAND—
A camping-ground mentioned by Hughes, 12 miles south of the Kai-
sar river, on the Quetta-Nushki road. The camping-ground is open and
good, with forage in the neighbourhood. This is probably identical with
Piundagari, a summer camping-ground of Rakshanis, mentioned by Mait
land.
BUDU REG—
A sand ridge some 6 miles north of Mianrud [q. v.) on the Mashkel
river. From this point a road runs to Kharan and also to Panjgur
which is about 100 miles distant. This route would not be practicable
except after rain, as from this point to Bibi Lahori Ziarat [q. v.), a dis
tance of about 55 miles, there is absolutely no water. [Maitland.)
BUG, OR BOG RIVER—
A tributary from the east of the Duzdap or Dar-i-Giaban river which
it joins about 12 miles above Mirjawa.
BUGSAR.—Lat. 28 ° 43 '; Long. 61 0 36 ; Elev. 5 , 500 '.
A range of hills commencing at Andai ( 3 , 500 '), about 8 miles south of
Mirjawa and south-east of Ladis and running parallel to the Tahlab
river for about 14 miles.
