CONFIDENTIAL
//m,
18th November 1940.
E. C. 3.
Dear Mr. Baxter,
1 have to acknowledge and thank you for your letter
(reference F.3840/40) of the 15th Instant.
Writing to us under date of the 31st August our Basra
Manager regretted that, owing to attacks of malarial fever,
he had been unable to arrange his intended visit to Kowelt
before the commencement of the busy season in Basra but would
do so when a suitable opportunity occurred. I shall now send
him a reminder.
It is relevant to add, however, that our staff diffi
culties arising from the demands on our British personnel in
Empire countries for war service - to which I referred at our
interview - are increasing and have recently become more acute
as the result of unexpected calls made on our staff in Iraq
by the Middle East Command.
Yours sincerely.
G. E. Baxter Esq.
