Correspondence and other papers relating to the invasion of the Hejaz region of Arabia by Wahabi [Wahhabi] troops under the Sultan of Najd, Ibn Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd]. The papers cover: the Wahabi attack on Jeddah, and a blockade of the coast to the south of Jeddah; reports from the British naval vessels HMS Cornflower and HMS Concord , posted to the Red Sea to monitor the situation at Jeddah; the movements of the deposed King Hussein of Hejaz [Ḥusayn bin ‘Alī al-Hāshimī]; appeals made by King Ali of Hejaz [‘Alī bin Ḥusayn al-Hāshimī] for the British Government to intervene in the war between Hejaz and Najd forces; King Ali’s attempts to raise funds in England to pay for Hejaz troops; concerns over the security of pilgrims travelling to Mecca during the war.

The volume’s principal correspondents are: the British Consul at Jeddah, Reader William Bullard; the Foreign and Political Department of the Government of India; the Foreign Office; Commander and Senior Officer of the Red Sea Patrol on board HMS Cornflower , Commander Stuart Elton Holder, superseded in February 1925 by Commander Evelyn Twysden Wickham.

The subject 3665 (Arabia) consists of five volumes, IOR/L/PS/10/1124-1127. The volumes are divided into eight parts, with part 1 comprising one volume, parts 2, 3 and 4 comprising the second volume, part 5 comprising the third volume, and parts 7, 8 and 9 comprising the fourth volume. There is no part 6.
