Transxetion ol a letter, lio*l5l, dated 22nd ShawwaX*^ 1 "'
1543 (May 14th 1925) from Ibn i>aud to His Britannic
Majesty’s Agent and Consul, Jeddah.
After respects.
X send you tnis letter to draw your attention to
two matters:
(1) We have become firmly convinced that the sole
cause of the prolongation of the present war between
$ejd and the Hejaz is the Sharif Hussein who has taken
up his residence in Akaba and is furnishing the army of
the Government of Jeddah with men end arms and supplies
and money, and has worked to assist that Government and
to strengthen it in many ways. X have to inform you
that we have therefore decided to take a new step which
will be most influential in its effect, wide in its
scope, and powerful in its result. To that end we have
ordered the mobilisation of an army of our subjects in
Nejd, and after leaving a sufficient force under our sons
Se’ud and Faisal in Riyadh and disposing the required
portion of them in Hail under the generalship of the
Amir Abdul Aziz ibn Musa*id ibn Jului al Sa’ud, we have
directed large forces to this country, to arrive at the
end of this Arabic month or at the beginning of Dhu’l
Qa’dch. In order to guard against all misunderstanding
due to misunderstanding (sic) and lack ol knowledge we
inform you beforehand so that you may communicate the
matter immediately to His Majesty's Government in
London viz. that we heve decided to despatch a division
in the direction of Akaba because Hussein
is
of our army
