I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain to
transmit to you herewith copy of a despatch from
His Majesty 1 s Consul General in Ispahan and of a
letter from this department to His Majesty* s Treasury,
relative to the office allowance which is now required at
His Majesty*s Consulate General, and I am to request
that the Earl of Birkenhead will sanction the acceptance
of a moiety of the proposed allowance of fifty-eight
thousand two hundred krans per annum as a charge
on Indian revenues.
