Sir,
With further reference to I'r .Ibunsey' s letter dated
7th January, 1927, No .F.4900/77/40, I am directed by the
Secretary of State for India to forvrard, for informtion
and for any observations which Sir Austen Chamberlain my
aesire to ofier, the proof of the Tibet Narrative, etc., to
be included in the revised edition of Aitchison's Treaties.
The question of the publication of the Anglo-Tibetan
Trade Regulations which were agreed upon in July 1914 has
formed the subject o:: previous correspondence with the
Foreign 0fi ice, and I am to refer in this connection to 15*.
Newton’s letter, Mo.F.2870/2061/10, dated 27th July 1925
on tne matter. Subject to ary observations Sir Austen
Chamber la in'may desire to offer on the point, Lord Birkenhead
proposes to approve the recommendation of the Government of
India that the text of these Trade Regulations should not be
included and that no reference should be made to them
in the revised edition of the Treaties.

This part concerns the Government of India's decision to issue a revised edition of Aitchison's Treaties (full title: A Collection of Treaties, Engagements and Sanads Relating to India and Neighbouring Countries ). In addition, the correspondence discusses the Government of India's proposal to remove from the new edition those sections relating to Irak [Iraq], Zanzibar, Somaliland, Shoa, Ceylon [Sri Lanka], and Eastern Archipelago, on the grounds that they are no longer of direct interest to India, and that the cost of printing them would therefore not be justifiable.
