they arrived he ordered them to join his xorce as he intend—

"we will neither listen to you, nor obey you because we are
bin Baud’s subjects and the inhabitants of qaryah are
subjects of Bin Baud and they have done no harm. Later
however they agreed to march and started southwards. When
Bin Shaqair heard this news he at once sent for his kinsmen
asking their help as he was afraid of Bin Subah for reasons
that his women and children were witn him. he sent a
message also to Bin Saud who wrote and ordered him not to
proceed horth of qaryah, and that should any one come and
attack them at qaryah they should resist by force of arms.
The next move in the act was that Bin Subah’s forces'
camped at Hamdh five hours distant from qaryah and to the
Southeast of it. From there Dhaij sent out a patrol which
met a Mutair patrol from qaryah. There was a fight - The
news having reached the respective Headquarters (Dhaij and
ibn Shqair) reinforcements were urgently called for. These
coming up joined battle with each other. We Xnow know that
Bin Subah was defeated although we do not know actually
what were the casualties on both sides. As regards the ^
people of Bejd all were sorry to hear the news, and extremel
indignant to hear of the action of Bin Subah.
They also informed Bin Saud of this misdeed and he
replied telling them that the question did not concern them.
How the Imam Abdul Aziz has written asking me to inform
y0 ur honour and to put to questions "If Bin Subah is under
the protection of the High British Government, then the
matter can be settled between him and Bin Subah through His
Majesty 1 s Government. If on the other hand Bin Subah is an
independent ruler then he would li^e t0 deal dire, ' b

inhabitants of Hejd have nothing against Bin Subah and the
people of Kuwait, on the contrary they have affection for

Correspondence discusses the arbitration of the British Government in the matter of the border of Kuwaiti territory under the Shaikh of Kuwait [Shaikh Sālim bin Mubārak Āl Ṣabāḥ] with that of the Ruler of Nejd [Najd], Bin Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd, popularly known as Ibn Sa‘ūd]. In this connection correspondence discusses the supersession of the Anglo-Turkish Convention 1913 by the British Government's 1915 agreement with Bin Saud in which he pledged to resolve disputes by peaceful means and submit to arbitration by the British Government. In addition the correspondence discusses potential hostilities between the Ruler of Ha'il led by the Rashidi dynasty of the Shammar tribe and the Ruler of Nejd, Bin Saud. Also discussed is the Battle of Jahra and the involvement of British military forces by air and sea.
