I have laid before’ the.Lords Commissioners of
His Majesty’s Treasury Mr. Oliphant’s letter of the
6th ultimo, (E.7201/93/91),,and the accompanying copies
of correspondence with the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. and War Office
relative to the incidence of expenditure in connection
with the despatch of the "Ivy” and S.T.6 to Koweit in
October, 1920.
In reply I am to request you to inform the
Marquess Curzon of Kedieston that My Lords note that
a moiety of the cost has been accepted conditionally
as a charge on Indian Revenues, and They authorise the
charge of the other moiety to Subhead E. of the Vote
for Miscellaneous War Services, on the condition that, if
as a result of the establishment of the Middle East
|
Department in the Colonial Office, the half and half
division of expenditure in the area in question between
Indian and Imperial Revenues is altered with effect from
a date preceding October last, a readjustment will be
made of the expenditure involved.
