I am directed to enclose for the information of
the Secretary of State a copy of a Despatch from the
Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. No. 327-S. of 1932,
dated the 25th May 1932, regarding provision of transport
for the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. .
2. Ihe Government of India are in entire agreement
with Sir Hugh Biscoe that the Resident*s sphere of
usefulness is very greatly circumscribed by the want of
regular marine transport. 'This has been especially
evident during the last few weeks during which it has
been necessary for Sir Hugh Biscoe to do £ im.ch rapid
touring in the Gulf in connection with the proposed
transfer of the Air Route. In this connection I am to
enclose for the information of the Secretar/ ol state 1
a copy of a Despatch No. 424*S. of 1932, dated the 27th
June 1932, from Sir Hugh Biscoe to the Government of
India.
3. The Government of India also agree that the
expedient which had perforce to be adopted in 1931, namely
the hiring of a British Indian Steam Navigation Company
ship for a period of a few weeks at Ss. 1,800/- ( Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf.
