The Enclosures include a report by Captain Felix Jones, Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , dated 4 October 1859, concerning plans for the invasion of Bahrein [Bahrain] from the Wahabee [Wahhabi] ports of Demaum [Dammām] and Katiffe [Al-Qatif]. The report encloses reports from Commander William Balfour, Commanding HMSF [Her Majesty's Steam Frigate] Semiramis , and Lieutenant P W Fendall, Commanding HMS Falkland , concerning operations at Bahrain; copies of correspondence with local rulers; précis of reports submitted by the British Agent at Bahrain; and correspondence between the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. , and the Ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Mahomed ben Khulifeh [Muḥammad bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah].
