sir, /\y
With reference to your telegram No.155
of the 27th instant regarding the supply to the
Hejaz Government of certain stores for the D.H .9
aeroplanes in their possession at Jedda, I have the
honour to enclose copy of a Note No.2871/43/207 of
today’s date which I have addressed to the Hejaz
Government on the subject, based on your despatch
No.266 of November 28th last.
2 . I cannot help feeling that there may have
been some misunderstanding as to the original inten
tions of the Hejaz Government and that the discretion
given to His Majesty’s Government as reported in my
telegram No.92 of June 19th may have been intended
onj.^ to cover the provision of stores etc., for the
four new aeroplanes, to which alone the Hejaz Govern
ment’s Note of June 17th referred.
3. I have ventured therefore in my Note to
Sheikh Fuad Hamza to make some allusion to the
possibility of a misunderstanding over this point, and
have informed the Hejaz Government that His Majesty’s
Government are prepared to cancel this part of the
order if the stores are not required by them.
I have etc.,
(Signed) W.L.BOND.
