Sir,
with, reference to the l&st psragrsph of rny
immediately preceding despatch regarding the draft
contracts of the airmen whom it is proposed to employ
unaer the ^ejaz G-overnment, I have the honour to enclose
translation of a note now received from the Acting Minister
for foreign Affairs in which he discusses the refusal of
His Majesty’s Government to accept his wording of Article 13
regarding the submission of the airmen to the jurisdiction
of the Tiejaz Government.
2. , As you are aware, Sheikh Fuad is always on the
look out for anything that may be considered to touch the
dignity and sovereign independence of the Hejaz, and he
has evidently seized upon the present occasion to restate
tne position of the Hejaz Government.
2 ‘ In my note acknowledging at the same time receipt
of this and of Sheikh Fuad's previous note, I have simply
stated that I am forwarding translations to His Majesty's
Government.
