of October 3oth, requesting sanction for the execution
of certain repairs- and alterations to the landing quay

S* Mr. Chamberlain has obtained the sanction of
the Lords Coranissi oners of His Majesty's Treasury to his
acceptance as a charge against the Diplomatic and Consular
Vote of a moiety of the sum of five hundred and twenty one
rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. , Toeing the cost of a portion of the work which has
already been carried out by the Government of India in
anticipation of sanction.

3. Mr. Chamberlain observes from your letter of the
11th instant (Mo. p. 3857) that pert of the remainder of the
work is now reported to be unnecessary, and that the. estimate
of two thousand two hundred and twenty seven rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. in that
connection is cancelled. I am to enquire whether the estimate
of four thousand three hundred and thirteen rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. referred
to in the enclosures to your letter of October 30th last
for other repairs still holds good. Should thisr be the case
the cost should, in the opinion of this department, be

debited against the revenue accruing to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran.
