Copy of a letter from the Director, itoyal Indian marine,
D,I.i>i.Dockyard, to file ogcretary to the Dovermaent of India
Marine Department, Simla, So. 7084/M, dated Bombay, the 1st
Au^just 1922,
Subject Deputation of an official with special knowledge of
lights for repairing lights in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
With reference to my letter So. 5373/M, dated 23rd May 1922,
I have the honour to report that the Government of Burma inform
me that, owing to the paucity of staff, they are unable to spare
the services of Mr. C.J.Homer, Bxecutive engineer, for deputation
to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
r
It is absolutely necessary that an officer having technical
knowledge of lighthouse machinery should be deputed for
repairing the lights in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , Hie Commanding Officer,
H#IoM d S* tf 3ffiAECHUS n , has already reported to me that the
compressed air machinery of the Shatt-al-Arab Light Vessel needs
examination by an Engineer expert in this line at an early date,
Ihis machinery was not overhauled in Busra when the light vessel
was overhauled, as the Director, Indian Water Transport, had no
one capable to undertake the work* Similarly all the other
lighthouses and Kais Island Light Vessel will need a thorough
examination and overhaul of clock work machinery; this has not
oeen done since the lights were established.
As no suitable officer is available in India to undertake this
work, I would suggest for the consideration of the Government
0 -^ India that the Light HonVfclffcj the Secretary of State for India
^ay be requested to address the Trinity House with a view to
their deputing a qualified officer for the purpose.
