allocated to the Lighting Service should be
divided between Indian and Imperial Revenues (as
the cost of maintaining the lighthouse tender
hitherto had been) so long as the cost of the
Lignting service continued to be borne by Government
(A sen erne, recommended by the Inchcape Committee,
for transferring to shipping interests the financial
buiden, or a part ol it, due to this service, was
already under consideration: it was contemplated that
when this scheme came into effect the portion in
question of the recurring cost on account of the
Lawrence should oe defrayed from revenue levied from
shipping by light dues}, it was recommended that
three-fourths of the annual expenditure on the Lawren
snould, from the date of the inception in August 1923

ano. this recommendation was, after correspondence
with the Government of India, put to the Foreign
Office and accepted by that Department in principle
on 2nd May 1924, provided that as a result of the

Imperial Revenues on account of the maintenance of
tue lighthouse tender than has been debited in
previous years on that account.”
