report the actual total cost of
conversion which at present is snown
only as ”estimated at Rs.45,000 plus,
the usual overhead charges."
In conclusion I am to refer
to the question to which allusion is
made in parenthesis in paragraph ^Jj£L
.of the accompanying memorandum regard
interest and depreciation charges in
respect of the lighthouse tender.
If the projected levy of light dues
is put into effect and the Persian
Gulf lighting service is thus put
on a more or less self-supporting
basis, it would he proper to set
against the revenue interest and
depreciation charges as well as
f_ ) 0 the r re cur ring exp enditure, and
that not only in respect of the
lighthouse, terider
but also in respect
of the lights themselves. If
the Government of India agree in
debiting to the lighting service
five-ninths instead of three fourths
of the cost of maintenance of the
11 Lawrence* 1 , it would be reasonable
similarly to put interest and
depreci ation charges at Rs. 1,42, 940 (i
five-ninths of Rs.2,57,293). But the
inclusion of even tais figure would
cancel the estimated margin of revenue
ove " expendi mure. The inclusion of
interest
