financially, not benefit, by the substitution of the
H Lawrence”, part-time, for the ’’ITearchus”; tho’ no doubt
the increased efficiency resulting from the use of the
larger, faster & better vessel may somewhat discount the
financial disadvantage.
(N.B. The above figures do not take into account
interest and depreciation charges. If these are
included, as properly they should be, the financial
disadvantage to the Lighting service of the substitution
is much increased. The "Nearchus” cost approximately
£36,655 4* 121 delivered at Bombay, The Treasury agreed
to share a cost price of £37,000. There were probably
further items of cost involved at Bombay and for
purposes of argument her capital cost may be taken as
£40,000. (Rs 6,00,000).
