ioreard a copy of a letter from tne Uoitmiasioner of
Police, Bombay, No. 905,2/346-*, da tea tne 27th June 1939,
much ahowa tnat the actual ei^anaiture incurred oy tne
noumiaaiuner of Police duru^ u^e last four yeara in
connection sitn the aiapo^al of mails received by
him from tne British Legation at Jedda has eroeeaed the
annual subvention of hs. 70/- sanctioned by tne Govern
ment of India. The expenditure in 1936-39 nearly rose
to ha. 100/- and it ia probable tuat it sill exceed
Ha. 100/- tnia year • Evidently any exceas of expenditure
over the amount of subvention would fall on the
Provincial revenue a, alUiou^n tne arrangau.enta relate
aolely to the Ixtern&l Affairs Je^artment. I am, there-
lore, to requeat that the Central Government may be moved
to raiae tne annual subvention to tna Coiouiaaioner of
Police, Bombay, from Ha. 70/- to Ha. 100/-.
I am to add ti*at a proviaion of Ha. 100/- has been
maue on this account in the current year’s budget under
tne head "35-external Affairs -1-miscellaneous - itner
Expenses” ana nenoe no mtoilkmaikl adultional funds will De
