With reference to Foreign Office letter
E 1232/562/93 of the 9th March, regarding the desire
of the Iraqi Government to recruit the services of an
expert to advise on the reorganisation of the Public Health
Service, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Eden to transmit
to you herewith to be laid before the Secretary of State
for India, a copy of a despatch on the subject from His
Majesty’s Ambassador at Bagdad.
2. The Secretary of State will be grateful if
steps may be taken for Colonel Gill to be notified of
the decision of the Iraqi Government, with a suitable
expression of regret for the unnecessary trouble which
has been caused.
3. A similar letter is being addressed to the
Colonial Office, and copies of the correspondence are being
sent to the Ministry of Health.
