To—His Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Afiairs, London.
My telegram No. 391 (Serial No. 138) refers to following preparations.
GOG., Meshed division has been instructed to send 700 troops from
Biriand to Sarhad of which 200 are for Dehami Baghi and 500 for Khwash.
They will leave in a few days under command of Salar Ampul who has been
ordered to recruit locally 300 more. ,
Permanent Governor of Persian Baluchistan is to be Shaukat-ul-Mulk
who has been ordered to proceed there to get into touch with local nobles
Shaukat will go this winter to Sarhad to establish effective civil and
military control in that area. Action thereafter as described in my telegram
No. 399 (Serial No. 149), dated 2nd December 1923 Premature retire
ment of our two existing detachments in Sarhad would be disastrous. And
it is essential to success that they should remain until Persians become firm-
ly established.
This refers to my telegram No 399 (Serial Mo 149).

liaison officer to arrange to have tents made oyer to Salar Amjad from whom
a detailed receipt should be obtained. Receipt should be sent here as soon
as possible with prices of tents supplied, for transmission to Tehran. This
refers to your telegram No. 50-M. (Serial No. 238).

in amplification of the telegram sent by me from Duzdap.
Major Dennys and I arrived at Duzdap on January 12th; and, in the
course of the 5 days we were there, had several interviews with Colonel
Salar Amjad-ul-Mulk, and inspected the Persian troops.
