the local population have scrupulously respected the Persian
border except in the case of actual hue and cry when by the
custom of gxxxxtixxs generations on this border, raiders
may legitimately be followed up. It is satisfactory to note

cooperation of the Khan and his Bardars, has helped to foster
tnis spirit and Do inspire the Mekranis to assist in the
defence of their own border. The practical resignation of
his duties of Sarhaddar by S. Mehrab Khan Gichki and the
substitution for border work of Khan Sarbuland Khan,
I.D,B.M., have also materially assisted. So long however
as the Baranzais continue in their policy of lawlessness,
aggression and hostility, we must he prepared for frequent
incidents of this nature in which possibly the Mekran Levy
Corps, the Kalat Contingents and local population may not
invariably be so successful as they have been of late.
