Enclosures Nos. 3-4 of Despatch No. 15 from the Secret Department, Bombay Castle, dated 11 April 1860. The Enclosures are dated 6 January-1 February 1860. Received 5 May 1860.
The Enclosures consist of despatches from James McAdam Hyslop, Officiating Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Turkish Arabia A term used by the British officials to describe the territory roughly corresponding to, but not coextensive with, modern-day Iraq under the control of the Ottoman Empire. , to HBM's Ambassador at Constantinople. The despatches cover: an engagement between Kurdish tribesmen and Persian troops; telegraphic communications; shipping; grain shortages; and a report concerning the Shaikh of Mohamrah [Khorramshahr].
