Tamb and Abu Musa. This is in
much the same position as Bahrein.
Article 9. It is for the Minister of Court
to indicate what more definite proposals he wants as
regards lighting and buoying.
Article 10* Slavery. Here again we shall be
pressed by the Persians and unless we take a
definite line we shall find that we have evacuated
the position without getting anything in return.

a position to carry out a search, it will not be
overlooked that they are in active negotiation with
various European firms for the purchase of armed
launches of no inconsiderable size.
Article 13. matter of tactics, it would

the text of an Article providing for the immediate
repayment by Persia of the two million pounds debt.

presented to the Minister of Court, he appears rather
clearly to have intimated that the subject is one on
which we anticipate a compromise.
The opportunity of the present submi ssion may
be taken to invite attention to the draft Arbitration
Article for inclusion in the Anglo-Persian Commercial
Treaty, and probably also in the General Treaty
discussed above, to which reference is made in Foreign
Office letter of 23rd August on P.5512/29, flagged.
The question is of interest to this Department as
affecting the General Treaty, but it will be submitted
for oiders in the E & 0.Department. Paragraph 1 of
