the Vidna-nping of the hoy ^arishamheh to Dehai and atterrtod
to enslave him; that T should ash the Do'/ernor of Dehai to
issue orders the ^^ imprisonment for 9 months and to suh.iect j
them to rigorous labour at sea if a trustworthy ]?a v huda was
ohtainahle.
t have the honour to state th^t in accordance with your
orders I ashed the Governor of Dehai for the necessary action
in the case and I her to submit his reply herewith for your
i nf orma11 or.
The purport of the letter is that ir shalhh's opinion
the imprisonment they have already undergone for their evil deeds
is sufficient to event them to re-commit the crime; that he
hones that as a result of the punishment they will not recommi t
such an offence and has suggested that the Hon*hie the Political
Resident may he kindly disposed as to forgive them and he shall
do the same.
Seeing the Shaikh desirous to connive at the increase of the
period of the two men’s. imprlsonment I also agreed that tha#
should he freed from .jail. Jr fact, in my opinion, the
punishment they have already undergone seems sufficiently
deterrent to them.
