effec„ that arrangements for Persia to fight against Turkey have

I am arranging in order to satisfy Khans here to send Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Bahadur to

Bahadur is ready to take to Kerman 500 men but he has not much ammunition
and he will be as powerless as Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Zafara to take action against Germans
unless ne is supplied wuth it.
TV ould Government of India be prepared to provide Bahadur with rifles
and ammunition for these men provided that situation here so develones that
we can count on Bahadur’s loyalty. * ^
I say rifles as well as cartridges because it would be very difficult to
provide ammunition for extremely miscellaneous collection of weapons possessed

I have received letter in English from Kawam dated December 14th in
answer to one from me enquiring circumstances of arrest of British Colony.
He states he was taken by surprise and methods and arrangements of
Gendarmerie were so complete and orderly that <c no one could think that it w r as
a mere mutiny.”
He says Gendarmerie have brought in two-thirds of the men from
northern road to oppose him and have collected a lot of riflemen for whom
they are paying out of funds seized from bank. He has collected 8,000
tribesmen but has not attacked Gendarmerie as they have large quantities of
ammunition and eight guns while he has only 50 a 000 rounds and no guns,

The volume contains correspondence regarding the Persian Campaign of the First World War and the movements and activities of the Central Powers in Persia [Iran] between November 1915 and April 1916. The correspondence is particularly concerned with German and Ottoman attempts to infiltrate Afghanistan from Persia, and of ensuring the continued neutrality of both Afghanistan and Persia.

The primary correspondents are the British Legation, Tehran; the British Consulate, Seistan and Kain; and the Government of India.

The volume contains a single folio in French (f 164), a communication from the National Committee for the Protection of the Independence of Persia.

The volume includes a divider which gives the subject number, the year the subject file was opened, the subject heading, and a list of correspondence references by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.

The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order from the rear to the front of the volume. The subject 3443 (German War/Persia) consists of six volumes, IOR/L/PS/10/472-477. The volumes are divided into six parts, with each part comprising one volume.
