Following is text referred to.
I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that I
duly communicated to His Majesty's Government Your Excellency
note of beptember 19th requesting the evacuation by His
Majesty’s ships of the naval station at Henjam, and your note
of September 22nd on the same subject. I have also conveyed
to His Majesty's Government the substance of the conversations
which I subsequently held with Your excellency and with His
Highness the Minister of Court.
2. I an now instructed by His Majesty's Government to
inform Your Excellency that they have at all tines recognised
Persian sovereignty in Henjam. If the request that they
shall now relinquish the facilities which they have enjoyed
in that island for so many years represents the final and
considered opinion of the Persian Government they will
endeavour to arrange for alternative accommodation elsewhere
in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. for the ships of His Majesty's Navy which
have hitherto used the naval station at Ilenjam for the
purpose of fuelling and recreation. The provision of the
requisite accommodation will, so far as His Majesty s
Government can estimate, taioe approximately two years, for,
as the Persian Government will recognise, the plans and
arrangements involved will necessitate considerable j..aoour
uS w oll as considerable expense. In the meantime they
would of course be prepared to share with the new rersian
IIa vy the facilities v/hich they at present enjoy at henjam.
