Shiraz situation.
As I understand it, intention ot His Majesty’s Govern
ment in creating South Persia Rifles was that the force
should he used under nominal direction of Persian local
authorities, i. e«,, Governor General in consultation w ith
His Majesty’s Consul for maintenance of security along
trade routes and of gener n l trnnquility, Indian troops being
sent only to mother the young force during the period of
its formation. Today however, neither force is able to
fulfil its r6le, but the two are concentrated at Shiraz
while Harman Farm a v ho appears to have (? engineered) com
bination which broke up Soulet ed Dowleh's po^er is en
