with Indian troops on March Slst* I do not take quite
such a gloomy view of the situation as to think evacuation
by British will be necessary ? and evacuation would of
course react immediately on situation here, which, as His
Majesty's Government are aware, is already fraught with
sufficiently inconvenient possibilities of its own«
Position at this end is that Farrnan Parma has made
certain suggestions, or rather demands, for assistance
from us in guns rifles and ammunition on departure of
our troops, and some definite measure of authority over
South Persia Rifles to enable him to arrange safety of road*
He makes no allusion to aiy special plans for disposing
of rebel Khans and has been requested at ray instance to
telegraph fully how he would propose to proceed supposing
that British troops evacuate according to plan and it is
left to him to dispose of rebels* I will telegraph
