To-day the Joint-Commissioners held a sitting for the disposal of cases (see
copy of register appended).
It was determined (subject to approval of Government) that, as regards the
business of the Joint-Commissioners' Court, one vernacular file of cases should
be kept, which should remain (as a rule) in Ladakh, and from which copies
can be furnished when required. In addition to this, each Joint-Commissioner
separately will keep his own register of cases and his own notes of evidence, &c.
To-day the Joint-Commissioners sat again (see register appended.
A company of about a dozen Koon&warees, who have just arrived came to pay
their respects. They furnished information regarding the trade routes
leading from Koonawar, which has been communicated separately. They
have also been able to afford considerable information regarding the trade
of that region, which will be embodied in future reports after comparison
with independent statements. ^
