In continuation of previous tele
gram, intimates that the Shah will
not consent to release Bunder Abbass
to Imaum of Muscat. States that
Hajee Ahmed Khan was received
lately at Shiraz with honor, and re
confirmed. Intimates that the Per
sian Government has no intelligence
of the alarming state of affairs at
Bundar Abbass as reported in Colonel
Pelly’s despatch of 23rd July.
With reference to his telegram of
23rd September 1871, asks him to
endeavour to persuade Persian Gov
ernment not to decide finally till he
hears further by post.
With reference to his telegram of
23rd September, reporting that the
Shah will not consent to release
Bunder Abbass to Sultan of Muscat,
hopes he will he able to induce
the Shah, at all events, to allow the
question to remain an open one, and
to abstain from giving a final decision
at present. Gives reasons why he
should use his best endeavours for this
result.

The papers cover: complaints about oppressive revenue farming at Bandar Abbas; the proposed lease of Bandar Abbas from the Government of Persia to Syud Toorkee [Sayyid Turkī bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd, Sultan of Muscat and Oman]; the support of the Government of India for the proposal; and an intelligence report by the British Agent at Shiraz, dated 4 July 1871, on law and order and economic affairs at Bandar Abbas.

The correspondence is dated 4 July to 7 October 1871.
