I have the honor to forward Vernacular letter agreeably to instructions by
the Commissioner in Sind, forwarded under your endorsement No. 1131 of
the 15th ultimo.
With reference to the latter part of memorandum No. 368, from the Com
missioner’s Office, I have the honor to state that, as far as I can ascertain, the
Sunjranees about 100 years ago resided entirely at Chaga, and in a kind of way
looked upon themselves as subjects of His Highness the Khan of Khelat. At this
period some of them, headed by Khan Jehan, grandfather of Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Ibrahim Khan,
migrated to Seistan, and by purchase or conquest pushed on to Chuckansoor,
and other distant points. They have intermarried with Narooees and other
Belooch, but have at the same time kept up their connection with Chaga. Por
instance, the sister of Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Ibrahim Khan, Sunjranee of Chukansoor, is
the mother of the Boorj Chief, Shureef Khan, Narooee, and Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Kumal Khan,
Sunjranee of Bunder, is a first cousin of Surfuraz Khan, of Chaga.
The Chaga Chief is also first cousin, once removed, to Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Ibrahim Khan,
of Chuckansoor; neither of them are on friendly terms with the Narooees,
“ consequent on their being Persian subjects.” The latter, as before stated, is
connected by marriage with the above tribe.
In conclusion, I trust that my No. 47 will have given what information
was deficient in No. 37 and its accompaniment.
