* Mahomed Kheyl ; an ally of the
British Government.
f Governor of Zurmut and Gurdez.
Cab?/1 diary from 25M to %Wi September 1871, inclusive.
As the Ameer often receives reports from the Governor of Koorum re
garding the insecurity of the roads of that Province and the harassing of the
Cabul Kheyl Wuzeerees and others within the Koorum and Khost territories,
His Highness is of opinion that a Cantonment should be constructed at Boo-
lund Kheyl for the purpose of posting some troops at that place in order that
travellers may travel safely and no raids may be committed within the Khost
territory. At the same time His Highness desires to annex the Dour Valley to
his kingdom, and in support of such proposals, he has summoned the Boolund
Kheyl Mulliks and others to Cabul through Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division.
* Governor of ICoorum. WllUi MallOmod Khan *
The Ghilzai tribe in the Khost territory plundered some camels
belonging to the Wuzeeree tribe. Mullik Mumut
Khan Wuzeer* waited on the Ameer for the release
of the above property, and His Highness sent him
to Vrsulla Khanf for its recovery. Arsulia Khan
has promised to afford redress by recovering the whole of the plundered property
or otherwise, and Mullik Mumut has gone with his (Arsullas) officials to
Zurmut. Naib Mahomed Alum Khanf has reported
j Governor of Tomkistan. ^ Ameer that be had deputed Hamid Kb an
§ Who was formerly the Naib’s Agent Surteep§ to the Meer of Maimmena, who has sent
at Bokhara. an Agent with a petition to His Highness. The
petition purports that the Meer is not inclined in any way to disobey the
orders of the Cabul Government, and that if any reports have been made
against him, they should be considered entirely false After mastering the
contents of this letter, the Ameer remarked as follows : “ All Turkistanee
people are self-seeking : their actions or words cannot be trusted.” No mention
is made regarding a quarrel between the present Meer and the sons of the late
Meer Hukoomut Khan, lately reported by Naib Mahomed Alum Khan.
The disputes raised between the residents of the Kohistan hills have not
been adjusted as yet, they have rather become more serious between the des
cendants of Ali Khan.* Jullundhur Khan formerly
# Chief of the Tutum Pass. killed his brother Sohbut Khan, and the sons of
the latter have now confined him in a Fort with a view to retaliating on him.
About seven or eight men are wounded and killed every day on both sides.
The Cabul officials who have gone to this territory have not also prohibited
them from such actions.
Meerakhor Mahomed Azeem Khan* will leave to-day or to-morrow for
Peshawur, with seven or eight men, to purchase
* Master of the Ameer’s special stable. | 10rseS f rom Bombay for the Ameer.
