Observes that the disturbances are
not likely to be serious (reply to this
Office telegram dated 17th instant).
With reference to previous corre
spondence, forwards copy of his report
to Commissioner in Sindh, relative to
the disturbances at Mustun? and
Quetta.
In continuation of his telegram
dated 18th, intimates that the Brahooe
movement was a revolutionary one,
and that the Shahgassee’s victorv was
not so complete as appeared. Reports
that the rebels are marching down
the Bolan on Dadur, and intend to
attack Bagh. Captain Porbes order
ed not to patrol Bagh with his regi
ment, but to hold the JVEurrees in
check between Lehree, Pholajee, and
Shahpoor, Thinks that our attitude-
should be strictly neutral, and that
Captain Harrison should be ordered
down from Khelat,
Forwards copy of his telegram ap
proving generally of above orders.
Captain Harrison not to leave Uhelat
at present.
Reports that the rebel Brahooes
are plundering at the foot of the
Bolan, and that the Belooch of the
Khan’s territory on the Sindh border
have refused to go against them.
Intimates that Captain Porbes had
gone patrolling to Bagh before coun
ter orders reached him, and that
he will remain on outpost duty at
Pholajee. States that there ’is a
strong report that the Shabgassee has
died of his wounds.
Forwards transcript of above tele
gram, and suggests that the refusal
of the Belooch to join in the disturb
ances^ calls for a distinct and early
exposition of the wishes and inten
tions of the British Government,
since, as matters stand, the Belooch
might be led to think that we are not
in earnest in a desire to support the
Government of the Khan.
