In continuation of our despatch No. 214, dated 20th Decem
ber 1871, we have the honor to forward, for the information of Her Majesty’s
Government, a copy of a letter from the
Government of Bombay
From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions.

27th November 1871, and of its enclosure, reporting the proceedings connected
with the formal recognition of His Highness Syud Toorkee as Ruler of Muscat.
2. We have concurred in the approval expressed by the Bombay Govern
ment of the Political Agent’s proceedings on the occasion.
