the
Sir,
I have the honour to invite a reference, to your
despatch No. 15, dated the 27th Hay 1924, on the subject of
the Anglo-Persian Oil Company’s negotiations for oil con
cessions on the Arabian littoral of the
Persian Gulf
The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran.
.
2. Although the Iluhamraerah. representative of the
Company is fully -aware that, in the event of a failure to
bring these negotiations to a successful conclusion before
the 31st March 1925, other Companies will be granted
facilities for negotiating on their own behalf, I am unable,
at the present juncture, to report any material progress made
by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company towards accomplishing their
objects in either Kuwait or Bahrain.
3. In July last, His Excellency the Shaikh of Kuwait
inspected the Anglo-Persian Oil Company’s operations at
Maidun4-Naftun and paid a second visit in August to the
Company’s Refinery at Abadan. His Excellency appeared to
be very greatly impressed with all he had seen and particu
larly with the kindness and hospitality he received at the
hands of the Company's officials.
4. Beyond constant expressions of gratitude and the
pleasure which the visit caused him, His Excellency has since
taken no step whatever towards the negotiation of a concession
