The. present high rate of the rupee is of course an
incentive to merchants to make purchases in England, certainly
of those commodities that have not risen in price in the u.h.
in the same proportion as has the value of the rupee. Tie fnct
will almost certainly tend to make merchants purchase
U.K. in preference to Inuia.where prices are also high
