bad affair that this should have occurred to people who were your Quests
when they were asleep. There is now between us concord and peace, and this
is known to all; but the Council has ordered me that I should inform you that
you are innocent of this, and that you even had no knowledge of this murder
which occurred a short time ago ; but on account of your being the Chief and
head ot this tribe, it demands of you if any one of your subjects should act
contrary to law and treaty, as at the present time you should give up into
our hands Baghee, the murderer of the sailor, and Sayyid Mahommed bin
Mohannud, who killed Captain Milne, or if no, you “should kill them
yomseli, either by the hands of the Sayyids of Wahat, or in some other way*
but it is absolutety necessary that you should kill these people. It is not
possible that I can accept any excuse from you, of whatever kind it may be:
i you do not do this, it is necessary to find them out wherever they may be and
arrest them, and should do to them as I have told you above. If you do not
do so, I have received orders from the great Government that vou should be
informed that you will become our enemy, and shall be treated'in the wav we
treat our enemies.

eisuie, and I have found it, and I send it to you with a copy. If you want the
copy or record, keep it, and send the original back by my messenger. I send
my compliments to General Eussell and Captain Miles.
