Step brothers of the Ameer.
A letter has been sent yesterday regarding the
death of Sirdar Mahomed Aslum Khan* and Sirdar
Mahomed Hoossein Khan.*
The day before yesterday Meerakhor Ahmed Khan* left for Herat by order of

owing to the difference of their dispositions, the Meerakhor and Sirdar Mahomed
thTM ^ 1 WiUl each 0tber ’ also that ^ anticipated
that Mahomed Yacoob Khan will not send Nazir Bahadur Khan (one of his
adherents) to Cabul as desired by the Ameer). It is evident that if the Sirdar does
not send Bahadur Khan to Cabul, or does not receive the Meerakhor with courtesy
the Ameer will undoubtedly be displeased with him, and such displeasure will tend
to renew former disturbances. It is said that the letter from Sheik Ismael, resident
1 Diai7 ° f 18th ^ 0riee in the K ' d y n territory, + which Sirdar
* Alahomed Yacoob Khan presented to the Ameer was a
false one ; that it was forged by Bahadur Khan and sent with a separate communi-
catmn to Sirdar Mahomed Yacoob Khan, in order that he may be permitted to
quit Cabul quickly ; and that in the said communication Bahadur Khan reported
the misconduct of the Ooloos (tribes) of Herat to the Sirdar, and induced the
Ameer to let him march speedily.
Arsulla Khan, Governor of Zurmut and Gurdez, has left Cabul with one
cavalry and two infantry regiments and two guns, for the purpose of realisino- the
Government revenue of the Zurmut territory. As regards disputes raised between
the heads of the Kohistan families, Sahibzada Golam Jan’s party have killed his
brother Meer Khoza with eight of his men, and plundered his fort. The Cabul
officials consider that it will be beneficial to the State if these Kohistanees are
destroyed by mutual murders ; but, in reality, their indifference to this state of dis
order weakens their authority, and is further detrimental to the interests of their
subjects.
Some suits of uniforms and other articles for horses have been sent from
Cabul to Toorkistan for cavalry troops.
To-day, on the occasion of the Agent having waited on the Ameer, His
Highness represented as follows : “ Sirdar Mahomed Hussun Khan, in person,
and Sirdar Mahomed Kasim Khan, by message, requested me, with a view to clear
ing doubts felt against them, to permit them to kill Sirdar Mahomed Aslum Khan
and Sirdar Mahomed Hussein Khan for their misconduct. I said ‘you should con
sult with Cabul officials and ‘ you can do as you please. They both went at night
to the prison-house, and, without my knowledge, strangled their brothers Mahomed
Aslum Khan and Mahomed Hussein Khan. As regards Hajee Eeranee, Kumedan
Mahomed Hussun, and Ghuffor, followers of Sirdar Mahomed Aslum Khan, who
killed the Commander-in-Chief, I desire to kill them by gun-shots, &c., in presence
of Cabul troops on their arrival from Eurrah.”

Offg. Commr. and Supt.,
