His relative, Syud Wali, and his man,
Mahomed.
Nine days ago, in the evening of
Monday, we left Panzroo and in the &
morning came to Kuratoo and became
a guest in Baweh Hadi’s house; a
certain Mahmood of Kuratoo also joined
us. Next day we went to near Kasr to
the house of Syud Howas; on the 3rd
day arrived at Jemshir; on the 4th day
left that place and came to the place
called the twelve Imams, in Sulahich, in
the Turkish territory, and slept in the
desert. Afterwards started thence, and
our provision being finished, came to
Kebre Chermek in the Kalkanloo, and
went to Peki Yoosef and asked him
to give us food for money. He first
would not give, but afterwards when
I explained to him we did not come
with any ill intent, he gave. We then
left that place and came to Kalkanloo,
Syud Hoossein’s village, but did not
find him there; from thence, in passing
the Ko-khaneh water, we met two Arabs
with four donkeys; we took the donkeys
and the other property from them; but
when Syud Kasim recognized these
people, they kissed each other and he
returned to them the donkeys and pro
perty. Prom that place we came to Shoo-
raweh and remained there twelve days,
and afterwards our campanion, Mah
mood, separated from us and went away,
and we four left that place. On our way
we met a horseman near a ruined mill in
the neighbourhood of Shooraweh. My
companion, Syud Kasim, and the two
other followers ran after the horseman to
plunder him. My horse being poor I
remained at Shooraweh. My compani
ons, Syud Kasim and the other two,
not being able to catch the horseman,
returned and came to me. While they
were on horseback, soldiers came upon
us, and, while fighting, Syud Kasim fired
two pistols at the soldiers, but did not
hit any one, the ball of the pistol fired
by the soldiers hit Syud Kasim near his
ear and came out under his eye. He
fell from his horse to the ground, and
one ball struck the palm of my left
hand and came out from the other side,
and I was wounded. They seized me, but
the other two ran away.
At that time I had no weapon other
than a gun, and when the soldiers came
upon me I merely as a threat pointed
the gun towards them and, without
firing, they seized me.
