Hay reported that Mr Boxall of Reuters News Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. had asked him to pass on any news worthy of publication to Mr Meikle, Reuters correspondent in Bahrain, and to recommend a correspondent for Reuters in Kuwait. Hay sought the advice of Maurice Patrick O’Connor Tandy, British ambassador to Kuwait, who recommended Angus Macdonald of the Kuwait Oil Company for the position of Reuters correspondent in Kuwait.
