1 have read y our letter of the 12th instant (19th January
1905) with pleasure and understood its contents.

xKakxxi^t the visit to Du ^uaa island of Wonckhaus the Geiwan
and you said you heard it was In connection with the lease of that
island and you warned me not to let him approach me. Pleas® note
that the fact is this as I informed you, that Wonckhaus visited
the island merely to inspect the oxide saying that if he approved
( uaeoxide) he would perhaps coramunioate with me with regard to
the price and would probably buy some. This was his object. You
should not think that I would fail to letvyou know if he communi
cated with me on the subject which you indicate. We could not
allow this sort of interference from anyone especially on the
psrt of these persons * You may rast s-ssurode
On seeing the oxide he approved that from one of the mines and
returned to Lingah and oays that he will perhaps buy 500 tons
if he obtains reasonable rates of freight.
He left for Bushir® sometime ago and has opened a branch
there for the transaction of buninsss.
