Commentary by ‘Abd al-‘Alī ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn al-Birjandī (عبد العلي بن محمد بن حسين البرجندي, d. 923/1525 or 26) on the Taḥrīr al-Majisṭī (تحرير المجسطي), the edition by Naṣīr al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Ṭūsī (نصير الدين محمد بن محمد الطوسي; d. 1274; see f. 3r, lines 17-18) of the Almagest (المجسطي) of Ptolemy (Claudius Ptolemaeus, بطلميوس القلوذي; c 90-c 168).

The text contains numerous diagrams.

Inserted between ff. 305 and 306 is a scrap of wove paper (almost certainly Western) on which is written bibliographical details of the text. Both the wording and script are very similar to the words found on the title page (f. 1r, lower middle of page).

Ruling: No ruling visible; 29 lines per page; vertical spacing 18 lines per 10 cm

Script: Nasta‘līq

Ink: Black ink, with diagrams in red ink; some rubricated headings and overlinings in red mostly before f. 70r

Binding: Western, half-leather case binding with marbled paper over boards

Condition: Insect damage especially towards back of volume; some holes repaired; minor water damage towards front of volume

Marginalia: Few; more towards front of volume
