of the Ilth of February last, the Under Seoretary of
State for Foreign Affairs presents his oamplinents to
the Under Secretary of State for India, and is directed
hy the Seoretary of State for Foreign Affairs to transmit
to him, to he laid before the Seoretary of State for
India, the aooompanying paper respecting the proposed
Comberoial Treaty vHth Ifysoat.
The Under Seoretary of State is to add that the
Marquess of Lansdoxme is matting the observations of
the Board of Trade on the matter*

This file concerns the conclusion of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation with the Sultan of Muscat, Sayyid Fayṣal bin Turkī Āl Bū Sa‘īd on 19 March 1891. The new treaty was modelled on a recently concluded treaty with Zanzibar. It superseded the Treaty of Commerce of May 1839 and its main purpose was to shut out French interests and influence in Muscat.
