Letter discussing the recent turn of events in Kelat which was caused by the lingering effects of Colonel Robert Phayre's intereference there and more recent attempts by Captain Robert Sandeman to interfere with the internal affairs and management of the area, as well as detailing Merewether's plans for resolving the situation.
The letter also briefly gives Merewether's thoughts on the outcome of the settlement of the Alabama Claims between Britain and the United States of America.
