The letter is informing the Supreme Government that the Acting Resident has been moved into temporary accommodation, while repairs are made to the factory at Bushire by Mahomed Jaffer Khan [Muḥammad Ja‘afar Khān], Governor of Bushire. The repairs are expected the take between twenty days and one month; they have been prompted by a firmaun [ Firman A Persian word meaning a royal order or decree issued by a sovereign, used notably in the Ottoman Empire (sometimes written ‘phirmaund’). ] from Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, the Prince at Shiraz, who ordered that it should be either repaired or torn down.
