of the She&kh from the comparison with Kuwait.
(d) He first wished operations to be suspended
pending settlement of the representative's
question but later agreed to wait until

(E) REMaRKS ON THE RULiilR'S YIKvvS .
(a) No other analogy, e.g. Dubai, will be accepted
by the Sheikh.
(b) The Ruler has in his mind the appointment of
Hamad the Heir Apparent as the senior repre
sentative and probably Saleh el Mana as the
second one. Sheikh Hamad, however, would
probably not be nominated unless sufficient
funds were made available, e.g. Rs.EOOO p.iru,
for his salary alone.
(c) The Sheikh under pressure might accept the
Kuwait payments to Arab Representatives (said
to be Rs.800 p.m. to one man only).
(3) P.C.L. LONDON'S VIEWS .
(a) Kuwait analogy is inadmissible as
i. Kuwait Oil Company has entirely
different constitutions.
ii. Salaries payable to individuals direct
iii. Representatives referred to as iiighly
paid are English speaking and one
nominally resident in London.

The volume includes: Programme of operations in Qatar from November 1936 to May 1937 (folios 110-118) and 'General and brief note on the water drilling operations of Petroleum Concessions Limited in Qatar' (folios 209-212).

The main foliation is written in pencil, circled, and can be found in the top right corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. side of each folio. The numbering commences at the title page with 1, then 2-37; 38 and 38A; 39-55; 56 and 56A; 57-198; 199 and 199A; 200 and 200A; 201-217; 218 and 218A and it carries on until 225, which is the last number given to the back cover. There is also a second foliation sequence, incomplete.
